Very warm welcome and staff went above and beyond to be helpful

Efficient, knowledgeable and very helpful reception staff. Good choice of evening meals excellently prepared, presented and served. Very comfortable lounges and a well stocked library. Good access to broadband PCs and free wfi throughout the hotel. The gardens are delightful and apart from their slightly steep aspect are very enjoyable. There is access via a fairly steep path to Fermain Bay which is very pleasant not at all crowded and has a very well set up beach cafe. The hotel runs free regular minibus trips to St Peter Port and also ran us to the airport. The hotel is conveniently located near to bus stops from which regular services run all over Guernsey it is however a reasonably short walk into town which my wife and I regularly enjoyed.

Excellent location, lovely gardens which are well kept. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable with good views. We like the food in the brasserie.

Our room was very nice, but the bathroom was rather cramped and the bath too small - unable to lie down and relax after a coastal footpath walk. The breakfasts were good, but the staff seemed quite disorganised leading to confusion with our orders on a couple of occasions - we were not the only guests to observe this. We had dinner in the brasserie on three nights, which were good, but we had hoped that the al a carte menu would be different each night. Also on the last night there appeared to be a large party of ladies who received most of the attention of the staff and we were left waiting an extremely long period of time for our starters and main courses - we didn't complain, but your staff did apologise as we were about to leave.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, food was good and the location excellent for exploring the island.

I booked a superior room at extra cost. It was not in the main building, was very small and should not be described as superior. The view from the room which was described as over the gardens and valley was in fact of the flat roof of a venue centre below. We changed room after one night to the main building and this was very satisfactory.

The staff were very professional, but were all able to relax and be very friendly. There is probably a very good manager at the hotel at the staff were happy together

The daily menu never changed, making the choice of food extremely restricted, unless moving to the 'al a carte' menu at extra cost. The half board menu should change every day. The complimentary Sherry is a good idea, but it should be a good Sherry. I am sure guests would pay more to have a decent aperitife

I thought staff were excellent. It was quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed the meader from The Venue to main hotel - very nicely landscaped! The views were stunning !!! Breakfast excellent. I felt comfortable and relaxed which was important as I was a solo traveller. I would recommend this hotel unreservedly to others - but it is not a budget hotel.

Friendly staff, excellent location, very comfortable spacious room and balcony with sea views. It was particularly pleasing to have "hot" food at breakfast, so many hotels have lukewarm food buffets.

Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and attractive surroundings. Excellent cuisine. Convenient for cliff and country walks, beaches and town. High standard of decor and cleanliness. Convenience of hotel bus. Staff were very efficient and kind in sorting out our travel difficulties. We stayed at your hotel in 1962 on our honeymoon, and thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to celebrate our Golden Wedding year in 2012. The extensions and upgrading of the hotel still maintained the attractive appearance of the building.

It's advisable to check the bill for accuracy.

Very comfortable clean rooms/excellent food and choice of types in three possible dining areas. Gardens beautiful and pool area a definite bonus for relaxation. Staff friendly. The hotel was the highlight of the holiday for us and was a pleasure to return to after a tiring day visiting other parts of the island

No complaints. This is the second year my wife has chosen the hotel for our holiday and she seems to have an instinct for getting it absolutely right!

Excellent first impression from reception staff. Food superb (probably the best Sticky Toffee Pudding we have ever had), wonderful view from our lovely bedroom (got an upgrade for an extremely good rate), staff attitude very good, swimming pool a good size. Will definitely go back.

The staff work extremely hard and are very attentive. there was a short walk through thee gardens to a wonderful secluded bay. the hotel was the most peaceful that i have ever stayed in. we were given a free upgrade to a room with a balcony and a beautiful view. The hotel laid on free trips to town and to the airport on the day that we left. The buffet breakfast was very good and so was the cooked breakfast although i didnt need it because the continental breakfast was excellent. overall an excellnt stay and holiday. :0)

      Fantastic food! Very good service!

Didn't like being accomodated in the separate building called The Venue

Having lived on Guernsey, we know the Island really well and this hotel is excellently placed. It has sea views and easy (although steep) access by foot to a lovely bay with a very smart little cafe and the hotel provides a courtesy bus services into St Peter Port, which my teenage daughter was particularly keen on for shopping! The staff couldn't be more helpful and polite and the facilities were very good. I have a policy that I never stay anywhere that isn't as nice, or better than my own home and being an interior designer this is particularly important to me - The FVH certainly fulfilled this expectation! It has a charming lobby and lounge and very smart decked terraces overlooking Fermain Valley and the sea. The indoor pool, although not large, is very useful for children on rainy days and is also warm! My mother joined us during our stay and I was a little worried that there were no more gold rooms available and that she would have to stay in a silver room. My worries were completely unfounded - her silver room was excellent and the hotel dropped and collected her from the nearby bay, as being 81 the walk was too much for her. We will be staying there again next year.

I was made to feel welcome from the moment I arrived at Reception from where I was shown to my room, personally. The receptionist was knowledgeable and friendly. Big room with balcony. Very comfortable bed. Huge bathroom with two washbasins. The Reception is two floors down from the car park, but that is inevitable when the hotel is built into a steep hill! However, there is a lift.

Excellent hotel with friendly efficient staff. The cleaning of the rooms and service at breakfast / dinner were especially good.
